Lyndhurst Event
Two very impressive runs visited all the controls on the score course, but not without running into time penalties. I think that makes it a well designed course. Thank you Richard.
It was good to see so many people out enjoying the summer sun. Indeed we were suprised at the turn out for this event, the school Summer holidays traditionally being a 'closed season' for orienteering and a time when a lot of people are away.

In case it is not obvious, the score course results are on page 2 of the attached pdf file!
If anyone can face the detail, I have also included a set of splits for the score race. (Note 249 is the Finish control and 250 is the downloader). It looks like the two at Bank (26,27) were the two to miss.
Organiser and cartographer's comments
Thanks to all who came and competed.
It was nice to be able to use Foxlease for the junior and novice adult courses, as well as having 8 controls on the score course.
It was a traditional score with the usual 1 hour time limit. However, the map was rather different!Mixing bits of traditional O map of forest and heath with the park of Foxlease, and the urban centre of Lyndhurst, all at a scale of 1:10,000, made it a little unusual.Even with partial contours everyone seemed to cope admirably, and thanks for the positive comments.Any further comments are welcome through the SOC email - enquiries @southampton-orienteers.org.uk.Colin HicksPlanners Comments
It was good to be able to plan the courses embracing the variety of traditional and urban terrain using John Warren's  updated map of Foxlease and thanks to Colin's rapid work in creating the interesting new Lyndhurst map in the short time since the Event was first proposed towards the end of July. From the feedback everybody appeared to enjoy the experience and coped well with the summer Sunday traffic and visitors in and around Lyndhurst!
