SOC events postponed until further notice

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that, in line with guidance from British Orienteering, all of SOC's events are postponed until further notice, including the Sunset and Beyond Relay and the Level C event at Acres Down. We will be looking to refund, in full, any entry fees already paid. Our thanks go to the officials who have already invested many hours into these events and we hope that we will be able to announce their rescheduling at some point in the future.

Plus we shouldn't been travelling to the New Forest for any solo and socially distant orienteering training (or I guess mapping or planning)! The New Forest National Park Authority and Forestry England who manage most of the areas we use are saying that you should not drive to the New Forest. Many car parks have been closed and the Police were doing roadside checks in Nomansland on Friday.

Sadly we have had to postpone the AGM, which was due to be held on 14th May.

The AGM will, of course, be held at the earliest opportunity and notice will be given to members as soon as it's possible to fix a new date.

Running Wild - Orienteering from home

If anyone would like to have a go at some orienteering courses from home, I have set up some courses on Running Wild. Running Wild is a website where anyone can upload a map and draw on a course and others can then plot their route (like you would with routegadget). You can then compare your route with that of others after.

The courses I have put up say SOC and you may notice some familiar areas. If there is any interest I can add some more maps of more interesting areas further afield. There are also plenty of other maps and courses already on the website you might like to try.
